Try a little sunshine. Then try a big storm.
Choose 0–8 solar panels, install up to four Powerwalls, and park an EV. Plugging in the car adds 7.2 kW of demand. Energy dots follow the conduit and charging cable. Their spacing and size stay fixed; only their speed changes with power.
Try Weather → Night storm + grid failure. Remove the Powerwalls and disable EV backup to watch the windows go dark. Add storage back to restore local supply. A compatible EV in V2H or V2G mode can also back up the house when plugged in, down to its driving reserve.
Drag to orbit, scroll/pinch to zoom, right-drag or use two fingers to pan. Double-click a surface to focus it. Arrow keys pan; + / − zoom; R resets the camera.
Solar position follows NOAA’s solar equations for Aptos on September 8, 2026 (PDT), with a 135° southeast-facing facade and an inferred 20.73° roof pitch. Production responds to sun elevation and roof incidence, with illustrative atmospheric and weather losses. Scrubbing changes the clock without jumping stored energy; Play day advances both. The roof supports eight 460 W modules (3.68 kW maximum); solar output scales with the selected count. Weather multipliers are illustrative, not a site-production forecast. Each Powerwall uses 13.5 kWh capacity, 11.5 kW discharge and 5 kW charge limits from Tesla’s US specifications. Battery charge and discharge efficiencies are each assumed 95%.
Backup isolation hardware is assumed with Powerwalls or an enabled bidirectional EV. Solar-only systems shut down during a grid outage in this model. A charged Powerwall or an enabled EV above its driving reserve must be available to form the simulated island. Power is prioritized to household loads; the EV pauses during outages. EV-to-home and EV-to-grid assume a generic compatible 75 kWh vehicle, 7.2 kW bidirectional EVSE, and isolation hardware, following the DOE bidirectional charging concept. These are simulation assumptions, not capabilities claimed for a particular car. EV driving reserve applies in all modes. VPP is a local demonstration inspired by Tesla VPP reserve and event controls, with no real enrollment, utility connection or earnings. Grid-connected discharge respects Powerwall reserve; an outage can use it. The manual event button overrides scheduled events until changed; the schedule selector clears that override. The charge slider changes simulated stored energy; it is not a real charging command.
The utility pole, wire route, battery positions, charger and vehicle are game additions, not surveyed electrical equipment or an installation design. The exterior has approximate dimensions and no modeled interior.
